Majolica Cheese Dish & Cover. Moulded Bird/Flower etc decoration. Cross mark on underside of base. Pottery Unknown Cheese plate and cover. Majolica. 188 mm (cover and base). 213 mm diameter (base). 1890s-1900s
Very Good. Discoloured crazing throughout. The top of the lid has some glaze flaking in small spots. There is some wear and a handful of small chips around the outer top rim. Base also has crazing but is very solid. Nice bright colours in the glaze. These were said to be Bendigo pottery at one time but looks more like European manufacture. The cross mark under the base is deliberate but not sure if it signifies a particular maker. Grade: 7.8 Estimate: $70 - 100
