Joseph Fitter, Patentee" refers to Joseph Fitter, a Victorian-era Birmingham machinist who operated the Britannia Works and held a patent for the screw-action winding mechanism used in extending dining tables and other furniture. His name and "Patentee" appear on plaques on these extendable tables, signifying his invention and the location of his workshop at 210 Cheapside, Birmingham, this being one of those plaques! Left hand lug has the left hand side missing. Rust to rear. A bit out of shape. Some dints and knocks. Fabulous looking item. Estimate: $20-30
