Sold for A$1,450

(Australian Coat of Arms) / Rhubarb (amongst other decoration) / S. Maw. Son & Thompson London. Base: Pontil Scar. (Too big for Australia Post). . Medicine. Chemist. Large Specie Jar. Mustard/tan background. Modern wooden purpose made lid. 450 mm without lid. 1870s-1890s

Very Good. (N/A). The lid has been made in recent times to fit this jar, a work of art in itself! Some usage wear to heel. The inner paint looks original. The design is amazingly detailed with the huge kangaroo and emu! These are great with minimal flaking, the emu does have a bit of flaking but not too noticeable, however there is quite a bit of flaking to the shield, the white quadrants on the right for instance are heavily flaked. The star section in cross shape between the quadrants is very heavily flaked. Flaked patch to right of Advance Australia as well. Some of these flaked off pieces of paint are still inside the jar sitting in the base. A few scratches and minor marks. A superb piece which will be a stand out in any pharmacy collection. No numerical grading given due to the multiple factors requiring consideration. Estimate: $2000-3000
