Grant's / Liqueur. Potters Stamp: Melbourne / Lane / Kemp / Willis / Australia / 3890 / LKW.. Spirits. Whisky/Whiskey. Mottled blue and white jug, moulded slab seal. 1 Quart. 205 mm. 1930s
Excellent. (8.3). Not to be confused with the standard Grant's jug, this is one rare piece of pottery made by a Burwood Pottery. Lane Kemp Willis was the original trading name of the Lane Potteries in Burwood, Victoria. The LKW name was only used at the very beginning between 1936-1940. This jug has two tiny glaze flakes to left shoulder and one to right shoulder. The upper part of the moulded design has a small 4 x 2 mm flake. The A and the E both have tiny nicks. Tiny glaze flake to left body in the mid region towards the rear. Little scrape mark to right flared out foot. Tiny nick to glaze to left footed area. Little scrape under base edge. Some crazing. A wonderful piece of Australian pottery. (This is the same example as sold in Auction 16, Lot 943). Estimate: $100-200
