Wembley Ware: Native Stockman. (Western Australia) Pottery Wembley Ware Wembley Ware Ash tray in shape of a native stockman. About 155 mm across. 1955
Good. One tiny glaze flake to base edge. A couple of other base flakes are glazed over from making. Little split to rear base edge. Some grime and scratches. Couple of glaze hairlines near his right knee. I have just had a reassessment after nearly packing this away because something didn't add up. Referring to pictures of others in the internet, it is apparent that the hat in this stockman has been repaired. A superb job, what got me thinking was the slight matt appearance as opposing to shiny glaze. The shape does not quite match others and the other thing that made me think it was touched up was the design painted around the hat seems to be a later addition. I can't see were the chips have been at all or any of the repair, just that the whole hat has been painted. Grade: 6 Estimate: $50 - 75
