F. H. Faulding & Co / (Hand coloured Red Cherries) / Tooth Paste / Adelaide. (With a matching base) (South Australia). Pot Lid. Tooth Paste. Round domed lid with ridge around edge. Black & White under glaze, Red overglaze. 79 mm diameter. 1880s-1890s
Good. (6). Looks good now but check the before pictures as you will see there are several repaired chips on the face including to parts of the word Adelaide and the end of Paste. A surface fracture curves through the middle Cherry but this has been disguised and the Cherries themselves have been recoloured as part of the restoration. On the underside is a hairline down the flange and then opens slightly to a crack across the underside of the lid. Some glaze chipping under here as well. Just small marks around the flange. Fitting base has some chips and stain but grading for lid only. Overall a good looking example of a scarce lid with a high quality repair done. Estimate: $300-600
