Trade Mark / Tasmania Dandelion Ale Company / (Two men holding bottles) / (Dandelions) / G.Nicholls & Co. Base: B. (Tasmania). Aerated Water. Cork stoppered. Blob top. Champagne shape. Spun finished top. Mid Green. 13 oz. 243 mm. 1890s-1900s
Very Good. (7.5). Polished. Some scratches to inner neck. Inclusion to right lip looks to be a small tack, there is no associated damage. Couple of fisheyes to right and rear base edge. A bit of high point wear to the embossing, nothing deep amongst this though and the embossing remains quite detailed and strong. Remains of some scratches but nothing deep. Really nice example of this rare, highly sought after bottle. We sold a labelled plain beer from this company with extra wording detailing the trade mark, in its own words, "An idiot and a man who drinks Nicholls Dandelion Ale!" George Nicholls, Hobart, Tasmania was listed on the label as well as "Agencies in all the Colonies." The reason this is mentioned is that this is sometimes referred to as a New South Wales bottle, Nicholls may have been in New South Wales but the label does state clearly Hobart, Tasmania, and so this is being listed as a Tasmanian bottle. Estimate: $600-800
