Holler & Co / Trade / (Prince of Wales Feathers) / Mark / Bridgewater. Around heel: Made by the Melbour // ne Glass Bottle Co. No base mark. (Victoria). Aerated Water. Lamont. Applied top. Aqua. 10 oz. 226 mm. 1890s
Excellent. (8.2). Sticky tape residue to outer lip which will clean off. Small fisheye to upper rear lip. 6 mm nibble to lower rear lip. Some fine inner stain looks like it will soak out. 7 x 2 mm surface bruise to inner base heel. Little nibble to one of the embossed E's near the base edge. Rest of the embossing is great with just one or two letters with some minor high point wear and a little nick to an L. Some minor scuffs and scratches. Lots of small bubbles. This is a great example of a rare country Victorian bottle. Whilst we have sold one before in Auction 30, it was this exact bottle and so this remains the only one that we have ever sold. This is the exact bottle pictured in "Bottles In Australian Collections," by James A. Lerk, 1971 on page 32, bottle number 5 and in fact used to belong to James. Estimate: $2000-2500
