S. Stooke / Casterton. No potters stamp. (Victoria). Demijohn. Impressed. Two tone, tan top, off white body. Impressed. 1 Gallon. 300 mm. 1920s
Poor. (3). 25 x 12 mm deep chip to left lip. Some lesser flaking around the outer front and right lip. Handle has been in three pieces, this is roughly glued back together, there are some chipped pieces missing to the inner handle. From the left lip is a wide crack curving roughly 300 mm down towards the lower front, over a section of this at the shoulder some glue has been applied in an attempt to stabilise it. Another wide crack down from the right lip about 300 mm as well, on the mid body in the middle of this crack is some flaking over about 27 x up to 4 mm. 30 x 10 mm chip to right rear base edge. A bit grimy, needs a good clean. Some scratches and a bit of wear. A few hairlines. Impression is light, top line definitely says S. Stooke which is dfferent to any that we have sold which have said Stooke's Stores. Second line does say Casterton, although pretty much only the ton can be seen. I would not recommend posting this one, if it is to be posted, we cannot guarantee it will arrive intact. Estimate: $30-50
