H. Hammon / Merchant / Creswick / Irish Whisky. No potters stamp. (Victoria). Spirits. Whisky/Whiskey. Handled salt glaze whisky jug. Darker tan top. Impressed. Quart. 208 mm. 1870s - 1880s
Very Good. (7.9). 12 x 10 mm chip to the back lip. Just a bit of wear around and a couple of scratches down the back right. 15 x 4 mm "chip" to the left base edge has a rounded look like it happened during making. There is a groove formed behind this by the potter and the bottom edge of the groove has two shallow chips of about 5 x 2 mm. Some glaze wear on the back of the handle. Superb glaze. Great stamps. Great example of a very rare and unusual Victorian whisky jug. Estimate: $2000-4000
