N/A. (N/A). 1. EXC. The Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand Limited was once the biggest shipping line in the southern hemisphere and New Zealand's largest private-sector employer. It was incorporated by James Mills in Dunedin in 1875 with the backing of a Scottish shipbuilder, Peter Denny. It was bought by P&O around the time of World War I and was sold in 1972 to an Australasian consortium and closed at the end of the twentieth century. This cup is great with just a little dust which will clean off. A few fine scratches and a bit of discolouration around the rim. 2. EXC. Couple of nicks to base edge. Really fine Y shaped glaze hairline to rear. Some light scratches. 3. EXC. Just minor marks otherwise. 8. VG. Crazing throughout from manufacture. Small discoloured spot or two. To right of badge one of the crazed lines is a bit heavier and can be felt. 9. Good. P&O (Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company) has a rich history in shipping, dating back to 1837 when it was founded as a mail delivery service. The company is recognized as the oldest cruise line, with its passenger services beginning in 1844. P&O played a significant role in Australia's shipping history, beginning with mail contracts in 1852 and later establishing the first cruise from Sydney in 1932. 3 flakes to rim on bottom.
