Very Good. (7.7). The Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand Limited was once the biggest shipping line in the southern hemisphere and New Zealand's largest private-sector employer. It was incorporated by James Mills in Dunedin in 1875 with the backing of a Scottish shipbuilder, Peter Denny. It was bought by P&O around the time of World War I and was sold in 1972 to an Australasian consortium and closed at the end of the twentieth century. This cup is really good. There is a nick or two to the rim and what looks like a scrape through the glaze which I think is a making mark. Some fine crazing. Saucer is great with only some fine wear to the gold leaf trim. Estimate: $20-40
