Andrews / & Seddon. No potters mark. (Tasmania). Pottery. Campbells. Pottery bottle, embossed. Chocolate colour. 138 mm. 138 mm. 1880s
Very Good. (7.5). These were made at the Campbells pottery in Launceston and are a great piece of early Tasmanian made pottery. They come in a couple of sizes and some colour variations, this is one of the larger ones, in the chocolate colour glaze. 7 x 6 mm mark to outer front lip, looks like a horseshoe crack. Impact nick to left upper lip edge, there is a fine hairline down from this over about 50 mm or more, this crosses the shoulder and then disappears. Fine glaze hairline to right neck. Discoloured scratch to left, there is a little glaze nick in the middle of this and a slightly pitted section to the upper region. Some scuffs to the glaze at the front shoulder and base edge. Lighter patches that can be seen are glaze misses fro making. Really little flake to left base edge. Nice example, this is the first we have sold in this larger size. Estimate: $200-300
