Excellent. (8.5). This has the original stopper! Stopper has a small flake to the thread, still has the original rubber seal on it which is a little perished. Lip is perfect. Original handle is rusty, but solid. Minor scrape type mark to outer front right lower lip is a making mark. Minor scuffed scratch to front left shoulder. Making glaze drips and marks in places around the shoulder. There is a couple of patches of paint to lower rear shoulder which will clean off. Down the left is some chunky patches of paint in light blue and yellow, this will is hardly baked on, but will clean off if the right solvent is used. The spigot is sealed with concrete, but not damaged, maybe a minor spot of wear to the edges. Would have been sealed so that it would not leak without a tap in place. Some other little spots of paint scattered around. The right side has a couple of lumpy marks which are making marks, little dint or two from making as well. 80 mm slightly discoloured surface scratch to lower right. Minor flake or even just glaze scrape to underside of spigot. 8 x 5 mm chip at front right base edge has a very fine and short glaze hairline up from it. One or two minor and very small flakes to base edge. Slightly scuffed scratch to upper front left shoulder. Some other fine scratches and minor marks. Superb example of an extremely rare demijohn in this small 1 gallon size! I have only ever seen the 2 gallon size for sale, and having discussed this with a couple of knowledgable local collectors, they cannot recall seeing a 1 gallon size before! We do believe there is one in a prominent collection, this is the second known to collectors from what I can tell. Estimate: $3000-4000
