Chester Lodge / Regd / Trade (Very large Anchor) Mark / Cordial Works / Camperdown / Made in France / Wm Barnard & Sons // Buying, Filling or using this bottle is illegal / S. Ball / Registered / Trade (Bull's Head) Mark / Bulli / N. S. W. Australia. No base mark. (New South Wales). Aerated Water. Soda Syphon. Round. Clear (barest hint of amethyst). 40 oz. 260 mm. 1899 - 1902
Very Good. (7). Spout comes off freely to reveal a damage free lip. Oiled internally, looks to have had some light soda stain but now just has heavy grime. Little shallow flake to upper side body. Little surface nick to the D of Down. Little surface flake next to Barnard details on pedestal base. 13 x 9 mm flake to front right heel. 14 x 7 mm chip to left heel, up from this is a 12 x 5 mm flaked area on the pedestal base. Couple of other little flakes around this pedestal base. 10 x 7 mm bruise to front right heel. Usage wear to heel. Some fisheyes scattered around. Quite a lot of scratches from having seen a fair bit of use over the years. A great bottle though, we sold one in the last auction, but note it was a Sydney Chester Lodge without the Ball details to rear. We did sell a Camperdown Chester Lodge in Auction 48, but it was clear, and again, no S. Ball details. Therefore, this is the first amethyst Chester Lodge, Camperdown syphon that we have sold. We have never sold a S. Ball syphon before, so even better there! Don't miss this unique example! Estimate: $300-500
