Early medicine chest with 6 crude clear square pontilled bottles with stopper.. Medicine. Chemist. Early medicine chest with 6 crude clear square pontilled bottles with stopper. 260 mm wide. 19th century
Very Good. (N/A). Metal latch at front is mangled, looks like someone lost the key to the lock and so mangled this to get into the chest. The wood is OK, but does have borers and the base along the edges is quite chipped and poor. Metal parts are rusty. Internally this is lined with colourful paper which is thick but a bit brittle, has been in place for a long time! 6 bottles are very crude. The pontils have been roughly ground over, sort of between a broken pontil and a ground pontil. Some dust around these, but no damage noted. Some scratches and minor marks. Wonderful item all round, looks early, possibly even the first half of the 19th century! Estimate: $100-150
